With Jet Li as global spokesperson, Age of Wushu starts global operation strategy at E3

 

June 5, 2012 US Pacific Time (June 6, 2012 China Time) - Snail Game’s flagship product Age of Wushu has made an appearance at the 17th annual E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo/Exposition) in Los Angeles. The event is considered to be the largest, most authoritative in electronic gaming and draws the close attention of industry news media, gaming critics and bloggers worldwide. Snail also brings other quality games to E3.

The company also announced that international martial arts superstar Jet Li will be the new global spokesperson for Age of Wushu. This kicks off Snail's latest effort to market Age of Wushu around the world.

A true Wuxia epic five years in the making

 

Many people’s impressions of Snail Game is based on the game Voyage Century and would describe Snail as an 3D online game developer that focuses on arts and innovation rather than pandering to the market. A growing number of players are getting to know Snail through its CD-key sales, seven-city tour, and the famous sale of Dragon-slaying Knife avatar for 100,000 RMB (US$ 15,705), the one million RMB prize for its National Arena Challenge, its work with Shanda for dual-core operation, and its teaming up with Shaolin Temple. As a well-known 3D online game developer with ten years of experience, Snail has accumulated deep technical capabilities in the research and development of 3D technologies. The release of Voyage Century in 2004, the first 3D Voyage Online Game, made Snail become famous overnight and garnered numerous accolades. Since then, Snail has released many games for a variety of audiences.

 

In 2007, Snail Game began developing a game based on Wuxia, an ancient component of East Asian culture. Snail started developing the game as a way to continue this heritage, with the hope of reviving and spreading it globally. Five years later, Age of Wushu was born.

Continuing the ancient culture of Wuxia, Jet Li signs on as global spokesperson for Age of Wushu.

 

Five years in the making, and with a team of hundreds of developers, Age of Wushu has from the beginning pioneered new advancements in gameplay, featuring a classless, no-level advancement system. The game takes place in the complex, ever-changing world of Jianghu. High-definition, fully rendered environments in the Chinese aesthetic tradition have the beauty of a painted scroll and are a feast for the eyes. The game’s flying systems and fighting modes embody the spirit of Chinese kung fu and have over the years have made waves in the industry, winning 27 industry awards along the way.

 

Snail Game is not just developing another product; it is immersing players in traditional Chinese cultures including Confucianism, Buddhism, Daoism, Wuxia, and other elements into the game to reinterpret Chinese traditional Wushu culture. Since its inception, Snail’s project development team has travelled to Shaolin Temple, Wudang Mountain, and other landmarks of Wuxia culture. Snail has collected literature related to Wushu and woven it into Age of Wushu, creating gameplay in line with that tradition. In February, Snail started the National Arena Challenge all over China, with a grand prize worth one million RMB. In May, Snail began working the world-famous Shaolin Temple at Mount Song, the most holy place of Wuxia culture, to promote Wuxia culture. The world is learning of Snail Game’s efforts to spread Wuxia culture.
